State Fair
I went to the New York State Fair this weekend….having no idea that a fair could really be that impressive (is there a California State fair? and if so, where is it??)
The place is huge, with more fried food goodness than i have ever seen. I went on a votim-inducing ride which was delightful - i think i realized that I’m getting old when I was halfway through the ride and would have loooved if it had just stopped right there.
This fair is a really big deal in Syracuse, i have been hearing about it for weeks. People kept saying it is the best event that comes to the city - and now i know why!
HAMMERTIME!
yes ladies and gents, MC Hammer wow-ed us with his stellar 80’s performance, including good ol’ 80’s clothing (sadly missing the hammer pants though), an amazing group of back-up dancers, a lady doing sign language on the side of the stage, and an ending to every song with “defrost” to signal that the dancers were free to retire from the stage.
I learned some very important things that night:
1. MC Hammer is a Bay Area man - I am so proud
2. “Defrost” is going to be my new term for “break”
3. MC Hammer is old, when he mentioned that just a bit ago he was in the studio talking to Tupac
In any case, I am now a Hammer fan for life
