where have i been all my life?
It has been a very long time since I have updated, oopsy. Things get busy, and I end up cutting some things out. In any case, all is going well here! The weather has been very back and forth, it is hard to tell what each day is going to be like. We had a week or so of veeery cold (30’s), and right now were back in the 70’s. Nevertheless, the outdoors have become absolutely...

One of the coolest things I've ever seen →
the rain has begun
Well the rain has started, and i am far from prepared! The first item on my list for this coming weekend is to buy some rain boots, something I have never before needed, but seem absolutely crucial here. Within the first five minutes of my walk to school this morning my umbrella broke, which was a disappointment, going to have to invest in a quality one of those too..
Jared and I visited the...
NYC weekend
I’m headed to NY City this weekend, and I can’t wait! I’m meeting up with Jared and Genevieve, weee! We don’t really have any plans as of yet, except for of course sneaking into a fashion week show and getting a front row seat…and seeing famous people everywhere.
It’s exciting to get out of Syracuse, and step away from all the work that has been consuming my...

State Fair
I went to the New York State Fair this weekend….having no idea that a fair could really be that impressive (is there a California State fair? and if so, where is it??)
The place is huge, with more fried food goodness than i have ever seen. I went on a votim-inducing ride which was delightful - i think i realized that I’m getting old when I was halfway through the ride and would have...
Green Lakes, NY
I took a little adventure to the Green Lakes, just a bit outside of Syracuse. It was incredible! It is some kind of scientific anomaly that has kept the water very clear and almost glowing blue. We rented a little rowboat and tooled around, gazing at our new famous friend, Tommy Lee….oh yeah, no big deal, he was just tooling around in the lake with us. Twas a gorgeous way to kick off...

first day of classes
Graduate school has begun!
I had my first class today, Statistics. Very exciting stuff. We didn’t really get into much but it seems extremely similar to the statistics that I took in undergrad so that should be nice and easy
I am also taking Qualitative Methods in IR, Managerial Economics, and Economic Anthropology.
It is interesting to see the area come to life with classes. When i...
maid of honor duties
my sis got engaaaged!!!! VERY exciting :)
Well, I am the maid of honor, which is a totally new experience for me, as I actually haven’t been to a wedding since i was probably in 6th grade, but i’m working on it.
if you have any maid of honor suggestions, go ahead and shoot them my way, graciass
Made it to Syracuse!
Holler,
i have made it to syracuse! Everything has been a blur since I got here, with the first few days being consumed with setting my room up and buying everything I needed, and orientation, which has inconveniently taken my master future plan and stepped all over it with a million other ideas. Overall everything is going great, and I’m loving everything. I have so many things to look...

a little catch-up
holler!
so it has been a while since i have written, oopsy. Problem is, i came down wiht a sickness while we were in Bayahibe for the weekend. The weekend itself was absolutely incredible, we saw some of the most gorgeous beaches i have ever seen (rivaled only by zanzibar, of the beaches i have seen). The town we stayed in was adorable, very small and quaint, a ton of restaurants right on the...
dane, you really are a silly bitch
its true! every time i hear a car alarm i think of Dane Cook’s song that goes along to it…. helllooooooooo, i am a caaaaaaaaaar (and so on). I usually dont hear car alarms that much, but here it is absurd. Last night one car alarm went off probably twenty times in twenty minutes. It seems that everything sets them off - thunder, other cars driving by, and who knows what else.

our life aqui
sooo, just a bit about our day-to-day life here since peeps have asked.
our class is five days a week (we had previously thought we had fridays off - finding out we didnt kinda put a cramp on our weekend plans, but i suppose the whole learning thing is the original reason for our trip). so we seem to be sleeping an obscene amount, and for the time being we would like to blame it on the intense...
beaches!
so we went to our second beach yesterday. last weekend we went to Playa Caribe, which was gorgeous but much more remote, with no restaurants around, just a small beach with some umbrellas, and waves that were enough to topple you over- i got out of the water one time and i had all kinds of twigs in my bathings suit because it could not withstand the strength of the waves…ooopsy
Our second...
cellular, holler!
we got a cell phone!! i know, suuper exciting, and actually quite necessary to stay in contact with people here. But enough about that, the important point here is that there is a major competition going on right now - which of the two of us gets more phone calls. Rosie has one-upped me, thanks to Gale, and i really need some numbers here. Y’all wanna call me?
greeeeat :)
Things got started juuuust right
I hope that the first piece of our trip is a sign of how it will end up being!
so we flew into Philadelphia, with a few hour layover. We thought about eating chik-fil-a, just so we could tell everyone at home how cool we were, but ended up deciding against it.
We noticed that the boarding began an hour before the flight, we were a little confused by such a long boarding time, but the reason...
Heading to the Dominican Republic!
I’m heading to the DR on friday, and I’m going to try to keep everyone updated on the trip through this blog. I hope I succeed!
I am going to be gone July 10th to August 1st, with the first two weeks being devoted to intensive Spanish language courses in Santo Domingo, and the last week traveling around the country to see some beaches.
