where have i been all my life?

It has been a very long time since I have updated, oopsy.  Things get busy, and I end up cutting some things out.  In any case, all is going well here!  The weather has been very back and forth, it is hard to tell what each day is going to be like.  We had a week or so of veeery cold (30’s), and right now were back in the 70’s.  Nevertheless, the outdoors have become absolutely gorgeous around here!  My walk to school is the most pleasant time of day, as I watch all the trees change a little bit every day.

I got through my first round of midterms just fine, which was a relief, but it feels like things are just getting under way now, and school life is picking up the pace! I have essays, and projects, and homework problems, oh yeah, and loooots and loots of reading :).

I am in the process of filling out my application for the South Africa program over the summer, which is extremely exciting.  It turns out that the dates are not as set in stone as I had thought though, which worries me, in terms of being back for wedding season over the summer, but hopefully all will be well!

And most importantly in the news of my life, I have now officially become what some might call (which was me, up until yesterday) “four eyes”.  Yup, that’s right, I guess more-than-perfect vision can’t stick around forever…I’m going to blame my computer for this one.  The choosing glasses part was one of the more stressful things I’ve done in a while, but I hope they’re not too ugly.

And finally, I’m heading out of town this weekend to a cabin in the Adirondacks.  It should be gorgeous, the house is on a lake, and in the mountains (which I hope will be all red and orange and yellow).  I will be sure to post some pictures of the experience, cant wait!

the rain has begun

Well the rain has started, and i am far from prepared!  The first item on my list for this coming weekend is to buy some rain boots, something I have never before needed, but seem absolutely crucial here.  Within the first five minutes of my walk to school this morning my umbrella broke, which was a disappointment, going to have to invest in a quality one of those too..

Jared and I visited the adorable town of Skaneateles last weekend.  It probably would have been cuter if it wasnt torrentially raining, but it is a cute town, sitting right at the edge of a large lake (which supposedly is an incredible blue color).  The homes there are very pretty as well.  As we drove around we noticed that maintaining a yard here is extremely easy… everything is automatically green from all the rain.  It is even difficult to find golf courses because their green color doesnt stand out like in does in California.  Anyway, we spent our time in a sweet little cafe, sipping on hot chocolate, and planning the year ahead, all the while peering outside at the buckets of rain.  An excellent weekend if-i-do-say-so-myself!
